more drawlings

At the behest of my best friend Joe Cappabianca, I'm posting more warm up drawings. It's probably best to click on this one and view it at full size...lots of little doodles.

Drawlings

Some warm ups from work

Brang-Dang

Portfolio

Been meaning to do this for a while...now that Venture season 4 is done airing I figure it's safe. Head over to dannyhynes.tumblr.com to check out my portfolio in progress.

Also, a teaser for some work I'm doing for my brother...

Rupert Takes On Love

Rupert : takes on love from Joey Azoulai on Vimeo.

Sorry for the long absence...this is some of what I've been working on. I made this video with Yuri Fain and Joey Azoulai over the course of the last three weeks. Hope it makes you laugh!

ps-if anyone's interested in seeing some of the process of building my next puppet let me know and I'll throw together a post about it. I might do that anyway even if no one wants to see it...but then again I might not. I really never know with me.

F*ck bad news...

I got some frustrating news on Friday. So I decided to take it out on my Cintiq.

These two are from the future...the big guy is a giant....the little one flying is normal sized.

I can post some of my development sketches of these two if anyone is interested.

Hip Young Teacher Type

This guy totally has inappropriate relationships with his students...it's probably why he got into substitute teaching in the first place. gross.

Moleskine Sketches

Just can't stop drawing lately!!!

Unfinished Film...(it'll probably stay that way)

So I've been super busy lately...but I wanted to post something. This is the pre production work on a short that I was going to do about a month ago. The idea was to tell a story in 3 shots. I'll probably do more of these...it was a great exercise. I'm working on a new film now though...which has waaay more than 3 shots...so this is obviously on the back burner.

i love technology

trying my hand at airbrushing in sketchbook pro...I understand now how Disney movie covers got where they are. It's like crack...you just want to make everything shine.

Okay this is exciting to me...these are just some sketches I did for a possible short idea...they're supposed to be self portraits to varying degrees of exaggeration. The exciting part is this...

I sent a jpeg of the designs to my phone, and then used Autodesk's (Totally worth the $2.99) Sketchbook mobile app to draw these additional sketches...with my finger! And THEN I was able to email myself a .psd of the file...because the app supports layers!!! I'm STILL geeking out!

Wake Up Rupert

Joe and I made this over the weekend. Still testing things...still learning how to do stuff.

Doodle

Heres something...

Puppet

So, Ive decided to fulfill a lifelong dream and start building puppets. Here is a little video of the first one. Its insane how rewarding it is to do this kind of thing.

Unused Design

This was for a friend of mine. It was a project that never materialized but I'm happy with the way it turned out. It's always nice to bring a piece to finish...I should probably do it more often.

More of what I've been drawing

Here's some more stuff.

I've been drawing a lot!

I've been doing a lot of drawing, which is great...because now I can actually update this somewhat regularly!  This is all just stuff I've been doing at work whenever I can sneak 15 minutes or so.

Scurvy Dave

Here's a little Scurvy Dave drawing for you...been drawing him a lot lately.

Rynda Gets Ripped Off!

Okay...so I did this after looking at Phil Rynda's blog and all of the wonderful black and white studies he has up there.  It's a total knock off, but it was a lot of fun to do, and it made me think about the whole piece instead of just doodling.  So this is what happened to me this morning. Yes, I killed something that was on it's back already and yes, that is my ass.

Los Angeles, I'm Yours

I'm in LA for a bit to work on DJ and the Fro!  It's awesome out here, but NY will always be home.  Here are some old phone paintings (made with Brushes on the iphone) that I have lying around and a flash doodle page.  I know, I know...more Harry Potter.  What can I say?  I'm a huge effing nerd.

This is my thesis from SVA '06. There's so much that I would change, on top of the fact that I never finished....but all in all I think it's a good mark of where I was at the time, so here it is. For posterity.
